01
Eligibility & Registration
Who can compete: Anyone. To create or join a Crucible team on valis.gg you need an account with a
linked Discord account or a
verified email. Joining the
VALIS Discord is not required.
- Any player with a linked Discord account or a verified email can request a new team from the NA or EU Crucible Teams page. Staff review each request. Once approved, the team joins that region's ladder at 1000 CR and the player who asked becomes its first captain.
- A team's captains are its Team Contacts. They approve new members, post and accept match requests, and confirm the other team's score in ranked matches. A team can have up to 3 captains.
- A team on valis.gg holds up to 20 members. A player can be on one Crucible team per region (one NA and one EU team at most). Crucible teams are separate from tournament teams.
- Your whole roster doesn't need to be on valis.gg. Only players who post or accept match requests, or who use the live match chat, need to join the team on the site.
- To join a team, open its page and click Request to Join; one of its captains approves you. There's no waiting period, and captains can close applications at any time.
- Display names of players on the site team must exactly match their Xbox or PlayStation gamertag, so staff and opponents can identify them in the match chat.
- Accounts must be legitimate and belong to the individual competing. Alternate, shared, sold, or boosted accounts are prohibited.
- Staff reserve the right to deny registration to any team or player for conduct reasons from prior seasons.
02
Player Conduct
Zero tolerance: Harassment, hate speech, slurs, and targeted abuse will result in immediate suspension regardless of context or prior standing.
- Respectful play: All participants are expected to conduct themselves with sportsmanship before, during, and after matches, whether in-game, in Discord, or on any associated platform.
- No harassment: Targeted harassment of any player, team, or staff member (including in DMs) will not be tolerated.
- No hate speech: Use of slurs, discriminatory language, or content targeting race, gender, sexuality, religion, nationality, or disability is grounds for permanent removal.
- Trash talk: Light competitive banter is acceptable. Sustained personal attacks, doxxing threats, or content intended to demean are not.
- Stream behaviour: If a match is streamed, players must not engage in behaviour intended to embarrass the league, VALIS, or other participants on stream.
- Social media: Public posts intentionally designed to defame VALIS, the league, its staff, or other participants may be treated as a conduct violation.
03
Match Rules
- Match requests: Matches are arranged through match requests. A captain posts the region, format, date and time, ruleset, and whether the match is ranked or casual. A captain of another team in the same region accepts it, and both rosters then share a live match chat.
- Region: NA requests can only be accepted by NA teams, and EU requests by EU teams. A ranked result changes CR on that region's ladder only.
- Scheduling: Changes to the agreed time are settled in the match chat. Scheduling disputes must be raised there with the other team's Team Contacts at least 24 hours before the start time.
- Request limits: A team can have 3 of its own requests open or accepted at once. The posting team can cancel at any time and the accepting team can withdraw; either one clears the match chat. Requests nobody accepts expire at their start time.
- No-shows: A team that fails to appear within 15 minutes of the agreed start time, without prior notice, forfeits the match. Repeated no-shows may result in additional penalties.
- Server / lobby: Unless otherwise specified by staff, the team that posted the request (listed first) hosts the lobby. Server region should be agreed upon in advance.
- Format and ruleset: The format is the one set in the match request: BO3, BO5, BO7, BO9 or BO11. The ruleset is either the VALIS Tournament Ruleset or the custom rules written in the request.
- Disconnects: If a player disconnects before the game start timer elapses, the match may be restarted. If the game timer has elapsed, the match must play on.
- External tools: Use of any third-party overlay, automation, script, or macro that provides an in-game advantage is prohibited.
04
Reporting Results
Reporting a result: when the series ends, any player on either team opens the match chat and reports the final score from Options → Report Match. The other team confirms or denies it: in a ranked match a captain of the other team must confirm, and in a casual match any player on the other team can. Once confirmed, the match is completed, CR updates for ranked matches, and the match chat is cleared.
- The score must be a finished series for the format, for example 3–1 in a BO5. If the teams can't agree, or a match is forfeited, use Need Staff in the match chat's Options menu.
- Scores should be reported within 24 hours of match completion. Reports submitted after this window may be voided at staff discretion.
- Both teams are encouraged to screenshot the post battle results screens. Screenshots serve as the primary evidence in disputes.
- False or fraudulent scores, including misrepresenting the winner or final score, will result in the match being voided and the reporting party facing a penalty.
- Once a result is confirmed it is final. Requests to amend a result must go through staff and require evidence.
05
Disputes & Protests
- All disputes must be submitted to staff via competitive@valis.gg, with Need Staff in the match chat, or through a ticket in the VALIS Discord within 12 hours of the match ending.
- Disputes must include: the match in question, the nature of the complaint, and any supporting evidence (screenshots, video clips, logs).
- Staff will review disputes and respond within 48 hours. Complex cases may take longer; affected parties will be notified.
- Staff decisions on disputes are final. Appeals may be submitted once in writing; second appeals will not be accepted.
- Filing a dispute in bad faith (for example, to delay results or harass opponents) is itself a punishable offence.
- Do not publicly post about open disputes. Allow the process to run before commenting publicly.
06
Crucible Rating (CR)
How CR works: CR is an Elo-based rating. Every team starts at 1000 CR. Wins earn CR based on the opponent's rating and the dominance of the victory; losses cost CR proportionally.
- Starting CR: All newly registered teams begin at 1000 CR regardless of prior season performance.
- Provisional period: The first 10 ranked matches use an accelerated K-factor, meaning CR changes more dramatically while a team establishes their rating.
- Dominance modifier: Set automatically from the confirmed series score on a sliding scale: 1.0 for a one-round win, rising evenly to 1.2 for a sweep. In a BO7, 4–3 is 1.00, 4–2 is 1.07, 4–1 is 1.13 and 4–0 is 1.20. It amplifies both the winner's CR gain and the loser's loss.
- Ranked and casual: Only ranked matches change CR and count toward a team's record. Casual matches are listed on the team page but don't move CR.
- CR floor: CR cannot drop below 0.
- CR updates automatically as soon as a ranked result is confirmed. Manual CR adjustments are only made by staff in cases of match voids or administrative corrections.
07
Cheating & Fair Play
Cheating results in immediate and permanent removal from the league for all implicated parties, with no right of appeal.
- Prohibited software: Aimbots, wallhacks, speed hacks, lag switches, packet manipulation tools, and any software that provides an unfair in-game advantage.
- Account sharing: Having another player compete on your behalf is considered impersonation and is treated the same as cheating.
- Match fixing: Deliberately losing, coordinating outcomes with opponents, or manipulating match results for any reason, including CR farming, is strictly prohibited.
- Collusion: Teams may not cooperate to inflate the CR of either party or to harm a third team's standing through coordinated play.
- Bug abuse: Intentional exploitation of in-game bugs or exploits that provide a significant competitive advantage is prohibited. Finding and reporting bugs is encouraged.
- Staff may request post battle results screens or other evidence at any time when investigating a fair play complaint. Refusal to cooperate is treated as an admission.
08
Communication
- Official announcements are posted on valis.gg and in the VALIS Discord. Joining the Discord is optional, but captains who link Discord to their account are pinged there when a match request is accepted.
- Team Contacts are responsible for relaying information to their team. Staff are not obligated to contact every individual team member separately.
- Rule changes and announcements apply once they are posted on valis.gg or in the VALIS Discord. Not having seen one is not a valid defence.
- All official disputes and reports must go through competitive@valis.gg, Need Staff in the match chat, or a ticket in the VALIS Discord.
- Do not spam staff members or repeatedly message about the same issue. One clear, well-evidenced message will be responded to. Spamming may result in your case being deprioritised.
09
Penalties & Bans
Penalties are applied at staff discretion based on severity, intent, and history. Repeat offences escalate automatically.
| Offence | Severity | Typical Penalty |
| Late result reporting | Low | Warning; repeated offences may void the match |
| No-show (first offence) | Low | Match forfeit |
| No-show (repeated) | Medium | Match forfeit + temporary suspension from scheduling |
| Unsportsmanlike conduct | Medium | Warning → 1-week ban → season suspension |
| Harassment | Medium | Immediate 2-week ban; repeat = permanent |
| Hate speech / slurs | High | Immediate permanent ban |
| False result submission | High | Match void + 2-week ban + CR penalty |
| Match fixing / collusion | High | Permanent ban for all implicated parties |
| Cheating / prohibited software | High | Immediate permanent ban, no appeal |

Staff Authority
- VALIS staff have final authority over all league decisions. These rules are guidelines, and staff may act outside them when circumstances require it in order to protect the integrity of the league.
- Staff will not abuse their authority. Any concerns about staff conduct should be raised directly with a senior administrator, not publicly.
- Rules may be updated at any time. Significant changes will be announced on valis.gg and in the VALIS Discord. Continued participation constitutes acceptance of the current ruleset.
- Ignorance of the rules is not a defence. All participants are expected to have read and understood this document before competing.
- For any questions, contact us at competitive@valis.gg.
