VALIS

The Crucible Quick Start

The Crucible is VALIS's continuous, Elo-style ranked ladder — play matches, build your team's rating, and climb the regional standings. Here's how to get going in five steps.

The short version
  1. Make an account
  2. Set your display name to exactly match your gamertag
  3. Get your team registered on the Crucible
  4. Play ranked matches
  5. Post your final score for staff to record — and climb
1

Create your account

  1. Go to valis.gg and click Sign In (top-right).
  2. Choose how to sign up: Continue with Discord (fastest), or the Register tab (display name, email, password) — verify your email if you register that way.
  3. (Recommended) Turn on 2FA under My Account → Security.
✓ Done — you have a VALIS account.
2

Set your display name to your gamertag

The Crucible has no console linking — your display name is your identity in matches, so it must exactly match your Xbox or PlayStation gamertag (capitalization, spacing, numbers, and special characters all count). Set it under My Account, and choose your region (NA or EU).

You can change your display name once every 14 days. If your gamertag changes sooner, contact staff at competitive@valis.gg or in the Discord.
✓ Done — you're identifiable for ranked play.
3

Get your team on the Crucible

The Crucible is team-based, and teams are registered by staff. Your team's Team Contact requests registration in the VALIS Discord; once staff approve it, your team appears on the ladder and can play. Joining an existing ranked team? Ask its Team Contact to add you.

✓ Done — your team is on the ladder.
4

Play ranked matches

  1. Arrange a match against another team on the ladder (find opponents and coordinate in the Discord).
  2. Play it out following the Crucible match rules — see the Crucible Rules & Guidelines page.
  3. Note the final score — that's all you'll report, and it sets your dominance multiplier automatically (see below).
✓ Done — match played.
5

Report the result and climb

  1. Your Team Contact posts the final score (just the score, e.g. 4–2) in the match report channel of the VALIS Discord.
  2. Staff then enter the result into the bot/website — that's what records it and updates the standings.
  3. Your team's CR adjusts automatically once the result is recorded.
✓ Done — your rating moves.
